Thursday’s quote

“Light is the left hand of darkness
and darkness the right hand of light.
Two are one, life and death, lying
together like lovers in Kemmer,
like hands joined together,
like the end and the way.”
Ursula K. Le Guin (October 21, 1929 – January 22, 2018),
The Left Hand of Darkness

Art by Édouard Manet.

She is primarily a teacher of English. Also her mind is lured by goodies like finance, economics, interest rates, the stock market, as she has a hankering for how the money is made. Nevertheless she is a dreamer on a cloud...As dreams cost nothing... In ordinary days she is a word-weaver for everything and everything that breathes. In the best of days she just follows the seasons by means of bike, skis, or roller-skates. She is grateful to all colors of the world and to people who read, laugh, smile and drop a line here, or on her email.

So, she, I didn’t know who once said “the creative adult is the child who has survived” has passed away…

Manet’s painting further illustrates how light and dark belong to each other. I enjoyed this, it’s so true, I feel.

January is a trying month for me, what with the struggle of light vs darkness.

    Another lovely post.

  6. They used to have a superb Manet exhibit at the Chicago Art Institute. I was privileged to view it several times. I appreciate your choice of artwork.

  7. Often when I look at the moon in the night sky I think, “Well, they haven’t screwed that up yet… to the naked eye it’s still the same it’s been since ancient times…” Such beautiful ivory. Natural is always best, imo.

In a thousand years, will we see lights on the dark side, glinting chrome on the light? Let’s enjoy the now! 🙂

If the happiness of the world and of my heart can be enclosed in one image, that will be the full moon in the night sky, or the dim moon in the morning sky….
If I still see it and feel it, I know I am on the right side of things..
Maybe not just ivory, ivory light and glow.
      My thoughts exactly 🙂
      Thank you!!!
