The tree

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing which stands in the way… As a man is, so he sees.”
William Blake (28 November 1757 – 12 August 1827)

Art by Vincent van Gogh.

She is primarily a teacher of English. Also her mind is lured by goodies like finance, economics, interest rates, the stock market, as she has a hankering for how the money is made. Nevertheless she is a dreamer on a cloud...As dreams cost nothing... On ordinary days she is a word-weaver for everything and everything that breathes. On the best of days she just follows the seasons by means of bike, skis, or roller-skates. She is grateful to all colors of the world and to people who read, smile and drop a line here, or on her email. Contributing author for 5 Medium.com publications, Spillwords.com and Anthology Volume I: Writings from the Sudden Denouement Literary Collective.

Catching up on posts as popping into coffee shops with wifi usually only allows me to catch up on my Facebook diary. Trees are wonderful things, as is Van Gogh’s art. Your post has appeared at a coincidentally appropriate time for me, having myself posted about the delight of finding a possible future home built from trunks of trees.

Well, it seems I have caught your thought 😉 🙂 too.
Trees are wonderful, forests and greeneries alike. This blue Van Gogh stopped me in my quest for art.
Awesome, a house built fromtree trunks, I would love this too. Goodluck and may you find your dream house here!

  7. I’m not sure how things are in Europe but in North America beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, and often civic laws can enforce a cultural bias. Example… in Toronto Canada there is a bylaw that you MUST cut your front lawn before it reaches a certain length.

Personally, I think it could be really beautiful if people just let it grow like wild grass by the roadside, outside of the city. But oh no, people want to control nature… control animals… control the length of your grass.

It’s really pretty weird when you think about it. Although I’m sure those who agree could give all sorts of reasons for their side… animals could harm their kids, and so on…

In the US I saw one case where someone had to change the color of a window frame or something because neighbors thought it didn’t blend nicely. It looked fine to me. And would have passed as fine in Toronto.

    So relative…

Sometimes here I have the feeling of living in Paradise Lost, so disruptive and untamed things might seem to be 🙂
Of course, there is difference between our two continents. Well, there are advantages and disadvantages. But this disruptiveness smells like freedom for me, as I am no rule obeyer, to a certain extent, of course, and to the length of ALWAYS respecting the liberty of others.
There are many instances when beauty hits the eye, no imagination required.
Not blending in is not a tragedy 🙂

      • Yeah it’s a fine line. You recognize the distinction between individual rights and freedoms, on the one hand, and the right to not be harmed by another, on the other hand. With aesthics it becomes a debatable argument, i guess. Is there a universal beauty? Some might say nature but then, a mentally disturbed person might not even find beauty in nature. So maybe we could say universal beauty is recognized by healthy minds. ☺

Your words are stardust, they shine and sparkle in my heart. Thank you!
